The Scent of Loud Silence: When Words Become Scent and Sound
Some ideas refuse to remain in a single form.
The Scent of Loud Silence began with words. It is the title of my recently published English-language book, as well as the title of one of the poems within it. Yet from the beginning, those words seemed to suggest something beyond the page—something that could be felt, heard, and perhaps even worn.
As a perfumer, writer, and musician, I have always been fascinated by the invisible ways in which scent, words, and music communicate. None of them needs to be touched or seen to affect us. A fragrance can awaken a memory we thought we had forgotten. A few words can transport us somewhere we have never been. A melody can stir an emotion before we understand why.
This is where The Scent of Loud Silence begins to move beyond poetry.

Translating a Poem into Fragrance
Creating a fragrance inspired by the title poem is not about simply assigning perfume notes to words. I want to translate its emotional atmosphere into scent.
What does silence smell like?
Can something quiet have an overwhelming presence?
Can absence leave a trace?
These contradictions are at the heart of The Scent of Loud Silence. The fragrance will explore that space between presence and absence, intimacy and distance, stillness and intensity.
Rather than illustrating the poem literally, the perfume will become another interpretation of it—allowing the emotions behind the words to exist in an entirely different language.
And Then, There Is Sound
The journey will not end with fragrance.
An original musical composition inspired by the poem will become another dimension of The Scent of Loud Silence. Just as the perfume will interpret the poem through scent, the music will explore its emotions through melody, harmony, space, and silence.
The poem will not dictate exactly what the fragrance should smell like or what the music should sound like. Each will have its own voice.
Yet all three will come from the same source.
A poem to be read.
A composition to be heard.
A fragrance to be worn.
Three expressions of one idea.
Where the Senses Meet
For me, creativity has never existed within strict boundaries. Perfumery, literature, and music may appear to be separate disciplines, but they share something fundamental: each has the ability to make the invisible perceptible.
Perhaps that is what The Scent of Loud Silence has gradually become—not simply the title of a poem or a book, but an exploration of how one emotion can travel from one artistic language into another.
First, it became words.
Soon, those words will become sound. And then, they will become scent.
The Scent of Loud Silence is no longer only something to read. It is becoming something to experience.
